This work investigated the elastic responses of a composite laminate shell subjected to transverse low-velocity impact. The governing equation based on equations motion both impactor and target was developed detetrmine impact force. displacement unit impulse loading solved using finite element method. A non-linear differential in terms indentation depth derived by incorporating Hertzian contact law theory convolution. Runge-Kutta method employed solve integro-differential equation, leading determination force at point between shell. including stress were evaluated exerting apex Present approach verified with analytical, experimental numerical results reported existing literatures. influences stacking sequence examined through series parametric studies. In addition, spherical shells different materials such as steel, aluminum glass studied.

in this paper, the deformation of a thick-walled circular cylindrical shell of incompressible isotropic elastic material is considered. the shell, which is made of three-term strain energy function is subjected to the combined external and axial loading pressure. in order to obtain the relevant eigenvalues, which is the main objective of the work, the incremental equilibrium equations are so...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Laminated Composite Plates with Locally Delaminated Interface Subjected to Impact Loading
This paper investigates the effects of localized interface progressive delamination on the behavior of two-layer laminated composite plates when subjected to low velocity impact loading for various fiber orientations. By means of finite element approach, the laminae stiffnesses are constructed independently from their interface, where a well-defined virtually zero-thickness interface element is...
متن کاملFatigue Resistance of Composite Fibre-metal Laminates Subjected to Impact Loading
GLARE (GLAss REinforced) belongs to a family of fibre-metal laminates currently being used as a skin material for the upper and side shells in the forward and rear fuselage body of A380. This composite material consists of thin layers of aluminium sheets and unidirectional prepreg layers of glass fibres embedded into an epoxy based matrix. GLARE demonstrates excellent resistance to fatigue crac...
متن کاملMultiple cracks in an elastic half-plane subjected to thermo-mechanical loading
An analytical solution is presented for the thermoelastic problem of a half-plane with several cracks under thermo mechanical loading using distributed dislocation technique. The uncoupled quasi-static linear thermoelasticity theory is adopted in which the change in temperature, if any, due to deformations is neglected. The stress field in a half-plane containing thermoelastic dislocation is ob...

fiber metal laminates are hybrid laminates consisting of thin alternating bonded layers of aluminum and fiber/epoxy. arall (aramid aluminum laminate) and galare (glass fiber reinforced aluminum laminate) are specific kinds of fiber metal laminates that consist of thin aluminum sheets along with kevlar/epoxy and glass/epoxy composite layers, respectively. in this study, nonlinear tensile behavio...
